STAR CITY “Saya to the Max”

PICTURES for you!

Dsc07091 You’ll know the holiday season is here when sparkling lights, delightful music and squeaks of glee fill the evening air right at the heart of Roxas Boulevard — it could only mean that Christmas has arrived at Star City!

For almost 15 years now, a fun-filled excursion to Star City is just as much a Pinoy yuletide staple as bibingka at puto bumbong, parol or Misa de Gallo. The best part is that you don’t have to wait too long to revel in the holiday spirit because the magic of Christmas begins when the Filipino family’s favorite entertainment center opens its gates on September 16 with a promise of "Saya to the Max!"

Dsc07172True to its name, Star City is also the perfect place for stargazing, with its exciting line-up of entertainment shows and mini-concerts, all for park goers to enjoy for free. Meanwhile, no less than 33 rides and attractions await you for non-stop thrills and action. This year, be among the first to encounter the gargantuan gorilla "Kong", who lords it over an chilling menagerie of creatures from the pre-historic age, the deep jungles and even modern cityscapes. And don’t miss out on the all-time favorite staples that keep the crowds coming back for more, especially the heart-thumping Zyklon with its 360-degree loop!

Dsc07113 With Star City’s convenient location, affordable tickets, great rides and programs, I think you’ll be hard-pressed to see a more reasonably priced form of entertainment for the whole family, "That’s why we call the Star City experience ‘Saya to the Max’." Star City is conveniently located at the CCP Complex along Roxas blvd., Pasay City.

KAMAY NI HESUS HEALING CHURCH

http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8EbOXDFsxaNWg

Dsc04753 LUCBAN, Quezon, Philippines — For the Catholic faithful who want to have a spiritual experience this Holy Week, a hilly portion in the village of Tinamnan at the foot of mystical Mount Banahaw, 2 km from this town’s center, is the place to meditate.

The hill has been transformed into a virtual "stairway to heaven" with the monumental Stations of the Cross strategically spread along the pathway and the grotto of the Virgin Mary at the center.

Dsc04722 After the physically exhausting 292 steps on the concrete stairs on the left ascent, and 278 if one climbs from the right with only a rope to cling on, a 50-foot concrete icon of the resurrected Christ, with all the sanctifying glory of his outstretched hands, welcomes devotees at the summit.

For the legions of the sick and the afflicted, The "sacred place" is better known as the "KAMAY NI HESUS HEALING CENTER"

GRAND SANTAKRUSAN

http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8EbOXDFsxaNT0

THE "SANTAKRUSAN"

Dsc01110 Santakrusan is a month-long combination celebration of the veneration of the Holy Cross and harvest festival. Held in May when school is out and the rice harvest is just in, Santakrusan is popular with children because there is a party to go to almost every afternoon after playing in the sun. Fourteen empty crosses representing the 14 stations are taken in by various homes all over town every day of the month. In each of these houses, the people chant the story of St. Helena and the Crusaders’ search for the True Cross. It’s a long story, but after the search is over, the children get to respond in song at the veneration:

Krus na mahal,
Krus na mapalad,
Darakilang armas,
Bandera ni Hesus
Pagsakop sa lahat!

(Holy Cross, blessed Cross, Noble weapon, Jesus’ standard in saving mankind!)

Pinamunuan ito nina Judge Benedicto Mortos, Palma brothers na sina Conrado, Cesar at Rosauro; Atty. Rosalino Pandy ;Dr. Samson Lapuente, Fiscal Ricardo Ebron, Col Lis Araya Jr., Ex-Vice Mayor Antonio Talavera at marami pa.

Dsc02845 The city of Dumaguete is the provincial capital of Negros Oriental, and is part of the Central Visayas region. It is a small but thriving city, and it is where tourism development is centered on.

At the heart of the city is Silliman University, the first university outside Manila and the first protestant school in the Philippines. The entire campus is declared a bird sanctuary. An anthropology museum houses extensive collection of artifacts dating back to the 18th century.

It is an ideal place for a get-away vacation. Beaches dot the coastal areas offering take off points for world class diving sites. Deep sea diving, snorkelling, wind surfing, trail blazing, or simple relaxation could be enjoyed on this conservative city.
