AVON WALK for BREAST CANCER

Crusade Against Breast Cancer

One Filipina dies of breast cancer every two hours. In the Philippines, about 10,000 cases of this type of cancer are diagnosed per year. Of these cases, a shocking 40% - 4,000 women - die. These figures make the Philippines the country with the highest breast cancer incidence and mortality in Asia.

Women are the heart of Avon. And because breast cancer hurts women, Avon champions the fight against this disease. In fact, Avon is the largest supporter of the breast cancer cause worldwide and has raised more than $500 million in funds. In partnership with the Philippine Cancer Society, Avon first launched Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) in 2002, to create awareness and raise funds for the establishment of the PGH Breast Care Center. The Center now stands as a testament of the campaign’s success and more importantly, as a symbol of hope to the thousands of Filipino indigent women who visit it.

Committed to the mission of helping save women’s lives, Avon Philippines launched the 3K non-competitive walk event called “Avon Walk Against Breast Cancer” in 2005. This event is open to men and women of all ages and fitness levels. Total funds raised from these events go towards the continued support of PGH Breast Care Center as well as selected provincial hospitals in various parts of the country.
